Beaton Hall: Community Climate Action Fuel Efficient Driver Training

fuel efficient driver photoWe’re holding sessions this Saturday 22nd September as part of the Beaton Hall: Community Climate Action project.  There are still a few places left and we really need your support in attending these sessions.  The sessions are offered free to members of the community and offer a chance to learn more about the links between fuel efficient driving and climate change.  A session with a qualified driving instructor will last for one hour and is done in your own vehicle.  The meeting point is adjacent to the Beaton Hall.

The training is organised as part of the Beaton Hall: Community Climate Action Project which is supported by a grant of £124, 612 which includes maximum funding of £41,325 from the European Regional Development Fund.

The project offers free support to help people in the community save energy in the home as well as supplying information on sustainable travel and climate change.

We look forward to hearing from you.  To book a place contact Fiona on beatonhallcca@gmail.com or call 07540 769136.

September at Haddo House and Country Park

North East Open Studios

We are so excited this year to be hosting six different artists for North East Open Studios, four in the Peatyards and two in the Pheasantry.

As well as the lovely exhibits in the Peatyards, Deb Lester and Sue Jones will be offering workshops in cross-stitch and peg loom artistry in the Pheasantry.  Both of these wonderful artisans will share their knowledge and expertise with participants, helping them to make stunning pieces to take away and display with pride.  This really is a unique chance to spend time with wonderfully creative people, and to learn a new and interesting skill.

To book a space with either of the artists please see the events listings at the bottom of this newsletter or email Suzanna on haddo@visithaddo.com for more details.

Haddo Volunteer Community Group – We need your help…

We are always in need of assistance at Haddo.  We need help with gardening projects, wildlife care and monitoring, and events.  At the moment we are trying to organise our very popular children’s Halloween event, Haddo’s Enchanted Forest.  Many people missed out on tickets last year as we could only hold the event over two nights, but this year we would like to try to do three, or more if possible.

Volunteering at Haddo can be really rewarding, and this particular event is a great chance for families to volunteer together.  Last year we had lots of characters throughout the park, performers, fire attendants, ticket and parking attendants, as well as catering and stalls.  If you feel you could help out we would be very grateful – every volunteer will be given two tickets to the event or a family ticket, where appropriate.

If you would like to help out at the event, or anything we do, please join our Facebook group.  Here is the link: Haddo Volunteer Community Group

Haddo’s New Operations Manager – We’re so pleased to welcome a new and enthusiastic manager to Haddo…

Based at Haddo House, Katy brings extensive experience in property management and team leadership. Overseeing the Aberdeenshire North group of properties, Katy is excited to welcome more of you to Haddo House over the coming months.

These are exciting times for Haddo as a vibrant new team compliments the knowledge and experience of existing staff.  Expect to see some fun and creative ideas and events coming soon.  We all love Haddo so much and can’t wait to see what the next chapter will bring
