Ellon Rotary Christmas Party

Ellon Rotary hosted a Christmas party on the 3rd December for some older folks from Ellon and neighbouring villages including Methlick. Thanks to the Station Hotel for their support. Superb dancers from Ellon and entertainers from Newburgh WRI and a visit from Santa. A great event! Photos by Andy McLean.

What’s on at Haddo in December…

Always something to see or do at Haddo

December at Haddo House & Country Park

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Haddo looked stunning last week with a light covering of snow. The red berries popped against the white blanket, and it was great fun trying to figure out the different paw prints that striped across the lawns.

We will soon have Christmas decorations up, and to celebrate we will have carol singers in the stables courtyard on 17th of December. Come along with the family and enjoy alcohol free mulled wine, mince pies, or pop into the gift shop and get a few pressies for under the tree There’s something for everyone at Haddo.

Time to say goodbye…

Victoria Ellis, the seasonal visitor services officer, finishes this month.

Whilst at Haddo Victoria has brought so many interesting and diverse events for all to enjoy. From wood whittling Sundays to nature detectives, tree identification to bug hunts – Victoria used her experience in teaching to entertain, educate and inform.

We all wish her well in her new business venture, and hope she’ll be a regular visitor to Haddo over the coming months. I take this opportunity to pass on a big thank you from everyone who took part in the events, and from the whole team at Haddo.

A blessing of unicorns at Haddo

We had such fun at the unicorn march we held in November. Eight local families did us proud by turning up at Haddo on a chilly Sunday morning with their unicorn groove well and truly turned to max – I’ve never witnessed so much glitter and pink hair dye in one place.

Our youngest unicorn was just seven months old, and had only been taken down off a Welsh mountain the week before. Our largest unicorn (pictured), Annie, was an impressive 17HH! All the unicorns, riders and handlers were absolutely fantastic, incredibly good sports and we adored having them at Haddo. Such a crazy event, but was an absolute blast.

Weather hampers Santa…

Due to the high winds and inclement weather tonight’s visit to Methlick by Santa and the Rotary Elves has been cancelled. Santa needs to be in tiptop shape for the big day. If the date gets rescheduled we’ll let you know.
