October at Haddo Country Park

One of our busiest months of the year, October has something for everyone at Haddo.

For lovers of the arts there is the Haddo Arts Festival, which is currently underway. There are some tickets left for a few of the shows so please take a look at the event listings at the end of the newsletter to see if something takes your fancy.

Halloween at Haddo – the Magical Forest – is once again a sell-out. Taking place over three nights, 23rd, 24th and 25th of October, Haddo will become the scene for all things magical: unicorns, witches, forest children, fairies and stunning lights throughout the park.

The National Trust for Scotland is holding a paranormal event, also a sell-out, and a children’s pre-guising event to set the mood for all your wee witches and wizards before they head out collecting sweet treats. There are still some tickets left for this event, but please be quick so you don’t miss out.

Friends of Haddo

On 6th of October the Friends group held the first of a series of dog-friendly pop-up cafes in the Pheasantry. Even though it was a dreich day, ‘Paws and Pieces’ cafe proved very popular, and all the volunteers’ hard work was repaid by making a healthy profit to go towards the future of Haddo Country Park. The next date for the Paws and Pieces cafe is 24th of November. The Friends group will also be holding a Canine Christmas Grotto on the 1st of December. A chance for your pooch to get a photo with Santa and a wee personalised gift to hang on the tree.

Work on the sensory garden continues. Many of the slabs have been lifted in preparation for laying of a hardcore, all-abilities’ surface. We hope to have a date for laying of the surface very soon, after which point we can start to figure out all the design features.

If you have some time you would like to give to a great cause we would love to hear from you. Join our Facebook page: Friends of Haddo Country Park or email
