Haddo – A Celebration in Light

Haddo House and Country Park are proud to be hosting ‘Haddo – A Celebration in Light’ on 26th – 28th of January. To mark the end of the Haddo Regeneration Project we will light Haddo House & Country Park with beautiful projections onto the house, lights on the Wellington Monument, and a lit path through the park, ending at the Old Pheasantry building. The Haddo Regeneration Project has been running for five years and has increased numbers at Haddo by 40,000 per year over the last few years, something we are very proud of. We will continue to put on great events for people in the north east, and want to celebrate the boost the Heritage Lottery Fund has given Haddo.

We invite people to come and enjoy Haddo in the dark whilst benefitting from the improved path system and renovated monuments and buildings. We will run an online photography competition so that local people can capture Haddo in lights, and be in with the chance of winning a prize – this will be judged online by the public.

Quote from Suzanna Atkinson, visitor services officer: The event is a way of us paying tribute to the wonderful improvements at Haddo House & Country Park, gained via the grant awarded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. We decided a passive celebration was appropriate as we have so much more to do in the coming year, having been given a huge boost from the Haddo Regeneration Project. We decided to give a nod to Rabbie Burns by starting the lights display on Burns Day, and we had a local piper playing, Robert Reid, whose beautiful piping set the scene for the lights. The lights display will continue for the next three nights, and we would encourage people to come and see Haddo House lit up for the first time. We are also running a photography competition so people will capture the lights. We will then ask our wonderful Facebook family to vote on their favourite picture.
