METHLICK COMMUNITY COUNCIL RESPONSE TO PITMEDDEN PHARMACY CONSULTATION

In November 2016 notification emerged of the intention of New Deer pharmacist, A&L Porter who owned a number of pharmacies around Aberdeen and North East Scotland and to open a part time pharmacy in Pitmedden. A&L Porter had recently purchased the controversial Tarves Pharmacy which had been the subject of legal action leading to the withdrawal of dispensing at Methlick and Tarves surgeries as well as the eventual closure of Tarves surgery and reduction of hours at Methlick.

Methlick community council said ” It has been noted that most residents have received notification of the intent to open a pharmacy in Pitmedden, the full facts regarding part time opening and possible reduction in service has not been fully explained in this A5 document sent in the post.”

The Community Council had discussed the current problems at their December meeting. There had been concern that not all of the implications and possible knock on problems at other surgeries and locations were clear.

Methlick Community Council have sent the attached document to the NHS in response to their Pitmedden Pharmacy Consultation. (see link below) In responding on the half of the community generally, the community council secretary, Kathy Kennedy has said that should residents have any queries regarding this please contact mccsec@live.co.uk
