Methlick Under 5’s wish to recruit an experienced, well organised, highly motivated, and enthusiastic person to join their team on a permanent contract as Pre-school Manager to manage and work with current staff in delivering a quality pre-school experience for children and families that attend the group.

The role will involve 5 contact mornings with 2 afternoon sessions, and time for planning and administration.
Methlick Under 5’s is a long-established, extremely successful pre-school run by a manager, 3 practitioners and a supportive parent-led committee.
We are a registered charity at the heart of our local community providing a fun, safe and caring environment for children between the ages of 2 and 5 years. We run sessions for Two’s group, Playgroup and Rising Fives.
The Pre-school Manager is key to the success of the playgroup and responsible for its day-to-day operation. The Manager is also the main point of contact for parents, staff, children, regulatory bodies and the public.
Ideally, applicants will have, or working towards a BA in Childhood Practice (or equivalent acceptable qualification) for registration with SSSC or other professional bodies such as the General Teaching Council, Nursing and Midwifery Council or General Medical Council.
As a minimum, all applicants must have an SQV3 in a childcare related subject (and be able to reach required qualification levels for registration within 5 years) plus relevant managerial and extensive childcare experience. It is essential that applicants have a good understanding of the Curriculum for Excellence.
The successful applicant will work flexibly as part of the team to support the planning and implementation of an appropriate Early Year’s Curriculum and will contribute to providing for the care, safety and well-being of the children in the group. He/she will be expected to be trustworthy. He/she will be expected to treat children with respect, and should be able to encourage and support children in the play session, and sensitively cater for their individual needs. A knowledge and understanding of the needs of children and their families and of cultural and religious diversity is particularly important.
Staff members are accountable to the management committee at all times.
