Methlick Opens new phase of KG Park

Methlick FC played host to a giant AFC sheep who assisted local councillor Paul Johnston officially open Methlick’s new football pitches after a three year project to upgrade the King George V Park. Present were (Right to Left) Cllr Paul Johnston on behalf of the Community,  Alan G Low of Methlick, Project designer, David Smith of Cloffrickford and Skelmonae, Mark Colley – Davies representing Methlick FC and a happy giant Aberdeen FC Sheep! to help cut the ribbon.

Cllr Johnston thanked David Smith and Ernie Lee of Methlick for their huge contributions towards the pitches from local wind turbine developments. “The developers, both local farmers, were true to their word in contributing to their community projects” said Paul.” The projects would not have gone ahead without them. Contributions were also gratefully received from the National Lottery and Aberdeenshire Council, including advice and assistance from Aberdeenshire Council Landscape staff in drawing up the project.

Paul thanked Alan Low for considerable in kind contributions of his professional time in helping draw up plans.

“There have been a few landmark projects that have been fantastic for Methlick over recent years. The Scout hut, Cricket Pitch, Community Garden, Playpark amongst them. This new park facility will be another huge milestone in making Methlick a great place to live, work and play. Much of that can be put down to Dod Barrack of Methlick FC and Jay Allan who wears every community hat you can name…they both have made all this happen and everyone owes them huge thanks” said Cllr Johnston.

Ball for Dod

Dod Barrack presented with a signed ball from all legends and team members to mark his Testimonial match for 34 years at Methlick football club.

Despite the weather, the BBQ and beer tent were busy and the Testimonial Match even had Dod score a goal to round off the day ! What a Testimonial !!
