The bad weather also postponed the first day of a Senses Scotland project to install a new sculpture in the park (see last week’s blog for more about the project). That means that we need even more people to come along and help us dig on Saturday. We’ll be meeting at the car park at 9.30am, start work as soon as possible and be finished about midday, if you fancy joining us.
For much of the past year a group from Senses Scotland have been coming to Haddo every week. They’ve been working with local artist Jemma Chillingworth to create a sensory map of the park- finding colours, shapes, textures and tastes, foraging for wild foods and feeling how the park changes throughout the year.
The climax of their year is the installation of a beautiful tile sculpture, imprinted with natural shapes inspired by the park (the picture on the left gives you a rough idea of what the sculpture will look like- hopefully without ruining the surprise of the finished article) and this is where we need your help…
Before the sculpture can be installed they need to dig and level the foundations and lay some hardcore as a base. As you can imagine, this is the kind of job where the more the merrier definitely applies! They’ll be digging on Saturday 23rd, so come along for about 9.30am (with a spade if you’ve got one) and give us a hand.
You can find out more about their year on the Senses Scotland Blog (try searching for Haddo- or if you scroll through you can read about all the other Senses Scotland projects too).
